The ocean has absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 100 meters of ocean showing warming of 0.33 degrees Celsius since 1969. Earth stores 90% of the extra energy in the ocean.

The Greenland and Antarctica ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data (1993-2019) shows Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons and Antarctica lost 148 billion tons of ice per year.

As much as 20 percent of all global greenhouse gas emissions caused by humans are due to deforestation exceeding the emissions from all the passenger vehicles on the planet. 

Researchers are of the view that diseases like COVID19 is the result of climate change. If not reduced then in future such diseases will be common.

In 2023, the average concentration of carbon dioxide  in our atmosphere was 419.3 ppm the highest in human history and more than 50% higher than pre-industrial levels of CO2.
